Which snacks are good for my dog?

Hond krijgt de keuze uit snacks

Nowadays, pet shops are full of different types of snacks. Web shops have also increased significantly in recent years. Many of these shops claim to have the best snacks. Nowadays, it is not just meat anymore, but also vegetables, fruit, vegan, cookies, etc. But which snacks are really good?

    Have a bite to eat

First of all, we strongly advise against sharing the snacks we eat with your dog. Dogs digest differently than we humans do and this is one of the reasons that there is also pet food. Snacks, food or drinks that you really should not give your dog are: Alcohol, avocado, chocolate, grapes, garlic, coffee, nuts, raw potatoes, raw pork, raisins, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions. Dairy products such as yoghurt and cheese are not poisonous but you can immediately tell from the stool that this is not good for your dog. You also have to be careful with pits, especially from apricots, apples, cherries, plums, etc. If you still want to give these fruits, remove the pits.

And what about vegetables and fruit?

Fruits and vegetables are snacks that people increasingly give to their dogs. Owners often want to pass on the health benefits of these products to their four-legged friends. Many companies in this industry play into this. However, most dogs do not really wag their tails faster from fruits and vegetables. Dogs are ultimately carnivores, so it is better to continue giving them meat. However, if you really want to enjoy the same snacks with your dog, then take these snacks; apple, banana, blueberries, melon, cucumber or carrot.

    Natural dog snacks

Dog snacks that you can give regularly are natural dog snacks. A variation in hardness and type of meat is healthy. This ensures that your dog gets all the necessary vitamins and minerals. He also has to gnaw and chew harder one time than the other time. Giving multiple snacks a day is easy and you don't have to worry about your dog getting too fat, as long as there is a balanced diet. As long as the meat snacks are natural and dried and do not contain additives (such as fragrances, colorants and flavorings) a dog snack is always healthy!
